Henry Abbott was resting on his front veranda enjoying lunch in the spring sun. His friend Seymour was prepared for a few scraps that might approach his direction. A Skylark resting on the terrace voiced its delight in the hot spring sun when a profound blast from RMS Titanic's whistle announced her departure from Southampton as The Titanic made way to the wide open sea. It was her "Au revoir". Henry picked up his binoculars and observed as The Titanic faded into the distance.

Best known for his nostalgic artwork, Lumbers is also an legendary portrait and wildlife painter. Once graduating from The Ontario College of Art, Lumbers labored for several years in Toronto. In1969 a chance came to travel to the distant north to paint polar bears in their natural habitat around Hudson Bay. In the next 10 years, his theme matter proliferated to documenting Native Peoples of the North.This composition was displayed in 2 exhibits at the Royal Ontario Museum.

In 1973 he was chosen a Fellow of the Explorers Club of New York and he also became a member of the Society of Animal Artists of New York. He is documented in Who's Who in American Art and a Dictionary of International Biographies in the UK.

By the late 70's Lumbers was recognized as one of Canada's foremost realists Artists, collaborating in many exhibitions in Canada and the United States. He is also distingished as a portrait painter, having painted several sports stars, political and creative achievers and others of character. His artwork is incorporated in several collections in Canada and throughout the world.
